About Mehtab

Mehtab Benton is a long-time yoga practitioner, teacher, and yoga teacher trainer. He is the founder of the Yoga Yoga Studios in Austin, Texas where he has taught Yoga of Sound classes for over 10 years.

Mehtab completed a Kundalini Yoga teacher-training program in 1974 at the Hargobind Ashram in San Rafael, California where he taught Kundalini Yoga in public schools and drug rehabilitation programs. He is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Trainer and an Experienced 500-Hour Registered Yoga (ERYT-500). He has an educational background in psychology with advanced training in Integrative Yoga Therapy.

Mehtab is a three-time presenter at the Southwest Yoga Conference and a recipient of the International Kundalini Yoga Teacher's Association "Building Communities in Yoga" award in 2000. He has taught Kundalini Yoga workshops and classes to students and teachers from around the world at the annual Kundalini Yoga Summer Solstice gathering in New Mexico. He served on the Board of Directors for the 3HO Foundation, dedicated to spreading teachings of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan and is also president of the Yoga Care Foundation, created to sponsor yoga research and yoga education for disadvantaged populations.

Mehtab has trained yoga teachers in the art of playing the gong for meditation and relaxation and has taught weekly Yoga of Sound classes since 1999. He was a featured instructor in the University of Texas Master Class series where he played the gong and lectured on the practice of yoga.

Mehtab is the author of eleven books and over 100 articles on yoga, heath, diet and nutrition, including his latest book, Gong Yoga: Healing and Enlightenment Through Sound.
